20 reasons to buy a luxurious house in the Algarve

20 reasons to buy a luxurious house in the Algarve

We have selected 20 good reasons to buy a luxury house in the Algarve real estate market. Portugal has secret sites with luxurious properties for sale.

Imagine drawing, in the southern part of the map of Portugal, a triangle with line segments separated from each other for less than ten kilometres. Imagine that in the interior of this triangle all the beaches have blue flag and breathtaking landscape; imagine that all the houses in which you can live are luxurious and that most of them are close to golf resorts; and imagine that all of the activities that you can indulge within this triangle are those that usually appear on the list of the ten things we must do at least once in our life. It sounds like you have three strong reasons to move with bag and baggage to the Algarve, doesn't it? But there aren’t only three reasons, there are at least 20 good reasons to buy house in the Golden Triangle in Portugal.

The Algarve has always been known worldwide as a luxury seaside resort, but in recent years the tendency of lovers of this region has been to exchange the temporary stay in hotels for the purchase of a real estate property near the beach, the marina or the mountain. Buying a house in a region that you know you will always want to return to is not only gaining the opportunity to return several times during the year without being held hostage to the contingencies imposed by tourist flows, but, above all, it is buying a passport for a life of unique quality.

1. The Golden Triangle links Almancil, Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago in a unique landscape sprinkled with beaches of restricted access. Exclusivity is the first good reason to look for houses for sale in this territory.

2. The region is characterized by almost no rain, long days of sunshine (ten hours, even in winter) and a high average temperature throughout the year. The weather is another major reason to start dating a real estate broker like LUXIMO'S Christie's International Real Estate.

3. At Quinta do Lago, crossed by Ria Formosa Natural Reserve, most villas have large swimming pools, magnificent gardens and stunning sea views. It's the best option for those who like to feel the fresh air of nature.

4. The best and greenest golf courses in the world are in the Algarve. It's not a myth. Last year, Portugal received, for the fifth time in a row, the “best golf destination in Europe” award at the World Golf Awards.

5. And if golf is awarded again and again, the beaches are not behind it. Every beach in the Golden Triangle area has got a blue flag.

6. But the beaches don’t just have environmental quality, they also have magnetic beauty. Try walking through the twenty kilometres of sand of Albufeira, or through the huge sandy Praia do Ancão, or bathing in the calm sea of Praia do Garrão, or watching the sunset on Praia das Dunas Douradas, or sunbathing surrounded by pine trees at Praia Verde, in the eastern area of Altura, or plunge into the transparent blue of Praia de Vale do Lobo.

7. Vale do Lobo, another corner of the triangle, represents luxury within luxury. Hot and translucent water beaches, golf courses hanging from the cliffs and exquisite apartments make this place one of the most prestigious and distinctive areas in the world.

8. Almancil is the fusion between picturesque and contemporary, between natural wealth and cultural heritage, between idyllic beaches and bucolic scenarios. It is the ideal place to look for a plot area and build a dwelling that reflects the whole balance of this region.

9. But Almancil is also the place that hosts the oldest karting track in the Algarve. And, therefore, one of the places where there's the highest concentration of adrenaline per square foot. If its beach is made of a heavier soil, the Golden Triangle is also the territory of choice for buggy safaris through Ria Formosa Reserve, where you can find hundreds of species of birds. It's safari and birdwatching simultaneously.

10. Proximity is another irrefutable argument. Everything is close to everything, including to Faro airport. That's 15 kilometres that you travel in less than 20 minutes.

11. The Golden Triangle is also near Vilamoura, one of the cathedrals of the Algarve glamour. Vilamoura Marina is the safe harbour for those who have luxury boats to dock. Or for those who like to marvel at the sumptuous yachts that pass there.

12. Vilamoura is also an extensive collection of luxury restaurants, animation, nightlife and an endless range of leisure activities. The perfect destination for those who hate to be bored with tedium.

13. The region is also distinguished by the fabulous private condominiums. We are talking about real estate with a quality standard that is hard to imitate and whose architecture is often signed by the greatest architects in the country. This is the case with Mário Martins, who has recently been awarded the Architizer A+Awards.

14. Water sports are another privilege of the Algarve. Surfing, bodyboard, snorkeling, diving, sailing, kayaking, everything is assiduously practiced in the region, and particularly in Lagos, due to its exceptional conditions.

15. But for those who like to be in the water and don’t like to be radical, there are other options, such as quiet boat excursions to see dolphins playing in the ocean, one of the biggest attractions of the Golden Triangle, or to explore the coastal zone and its secrets, such as underground caves or isolated beaches.

16. Speaking of secrets, there’s one worth revealing: Carvoeiro. That's where Benagil is, a small fishing village with a cave that time formed right in the middle of the beach and that you just can't miss.

17. It is unreal to think that the Algarve is only beach and dunes; there is a stunning and silent interior part of the Algarve, through which the crowds do not go by, and which remains one of the best kept treasures of Europe. And there is a historical heritage of real importance that matters to know in cities like Portimão.

18. Portuguese gastronomy needs no introduction, but the Algarve has a set of bars, cafés, terraces and restaurants that show the best national and international cuisine menu you can expect to find. Last year alone, eight restaurants were distinguished with a Michelin star.

19. What if everything was perfect and appealing but the price of villas was unaffordable? Portugal is experiencing a moment of enormous growth, but for the price of a small apartment in the centre of any average European city you can buy a real mansion in the Algarve. All you have to do is contact a real estate agent so you can prove it.

20. If it is true that a lifetime would not be enough to enjoy everything the Golden Triangle of the Algarve has to offer, it is equally true that the sooner you make your choice the longer you will benefit from it.
