Casa dos Mercadores is located on Rua dos Mercadores in Porto’s historic centre between the riverfront and the Burgo Episcopal. The project combines the character of traditional Porto architecture with a contemporary approach to housing, in a setting marked by history and its proximity to the Douro River.
The building comprises six units: four studios, a two-bedroom duplex apartment and a store. This layout brings together different housing options and a commercial space, while maintaining a connection to the identity of one of the city’s historic streets.
The two-bedroom-plus-one duplex apartment stands out for its generously sized terrace, which adds a private outdoor space to the home. The two-story layout and the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor area give this unit its own unique characteristics within the development.
Just a few steps from Porto’s Ribeira district, Casa dos Mercadores benefits from its proximity to the Ferreira Borges Market, the Dom Luís I Bridge, and the Cathedral. The surrounding area allows residents to enjoy the heritage, restaurants, and shops of the historic streets, with the riverfront as part of daily life.
The São Bento train and metro stations, also nearby, facilitate travel and access to other parts of the city, further enhancing the convenience of this central location.
With just five apartments and one store, Casa dos Mercadores combines residential and commercial spaces in a location distinguished by its proximity to the Douro River, Porto’s heritage sites, and public transportation.
